Sowetans discuss City plans
THE Regional Spatial Development Framework was up for discussion at a Region D open day, with scores of Sowetans commenting on their needs. Similar days are being held in other regions.

City gets energy efficient nod
FOR the first time, an EnerKey Performance Certificate has been awarded in South Africa, and the recipient is Johannesburg, for its Metro Centre.

Hearing on draft pool law
WITH the recent drownings in private swimming pools, the City wants to move swiftly to implement safety by-laws, and it wants public comment on its proposals.

Transport plans for fans
PARK and ride, park and walk, public transport and taxis will all be used to get spectators to the game on time during the World Cup.

Phakama rolls out to Midrand
THE new software will improve billing and revenue collection, and will boost customer relations with residents.

Sophiatown clinic opens
IT was a celebratory day in Sof'town, when the new clinic opened. Old ladies reminisced while young children sang and danced.

New traffic law soon in place
FROM November, drivers will get demerit points if they break the law on the roads, although metro police will be using the AARTO system from next month.


 

THE executive mayor sees Johannesburg as a leading international city, and it seeks "to actively use the instrument of local government - the municipality - to improve the quality of life of all residents and citizens".
